Seminars at Data Driven Agility

Agility Camp with Jessica Ajoux and Perry DeWitt at Data Driven Agility!

USDAA Trial on Wed June 20th Jessica Ajoux Judging

June 21st and 22nd Masters Handling

June 23rd and 24th Intermediate Handling

I am beyond excited to announce Jessica and Perry are teaching at Data Driven Agility this  coming June!

Jessica is passionate about sharing her knowledge and understanding of Agility with her students. She believes her job is to teach each human how to be an effective dog trainer and handler. She wants both dogs and humans to understand the how, the why and the when. When both teammates understand and are confident their speed and success will improve.

Perry DeWitt brings a special knowledge of dog behavior, training, and learning theory to her agility training and teaching.  Although she has been training dogs nearly her whole life and professionally since 2008, Perry became more involved in agility in 2010 when she got her Border Collie-Goose.  Since then, she has immersed herself in learning everything she can about the sport.

Limited to 10 participants per group.  Each group will spend half their time with Jessica and the other half with Perry.

Seminar runs from 9:00 AM till 5:00 PM. (Lunch is provided.)

Working spot $400

Auditing spot $75 per day.

Agility Instructor Training Camps

This camp is for agility handlers/instructors interested in improving their handling skills and learning strategies for teaching the huge variety of people interested in running dog agility!  As agility continues to grow in popularity more and more instructors will be needed.  I am looking to develop a training program — similar to the instructor training programs for both skiing and Karate - designed to teach instructors effective sports training methods.   One of the methods we will discuss is the CAP Model (CAP - Cognitive, Affective, Physical).  This model deals with how the student thinks, how they feel and how they move.  As agility instructors, we need to apply the CAP model to both students — the human handler and their K-9 partner.

Camp will run for 3 days.  Instructors skills will be developed in several different ways.  1st we will review basic handling -- can the instructor do such and such - no real focus on any one system - however, general knowledge of the OMD terms will be presented.  2nd, and most importantly, students will teach small groups of their peers.  Immediate feedback will be provided during their instruction and after camp is concluded a 2 page summary will be sent to each participant detailing both their strengths and weaknesses. 3rd there will be a lecture section -- one hour at the end of each day.  The lecture will focus on general learning theory and students’ learning techniques.

Lunch and Dinner will be provided.  Limited to 8 working spots.  Working spot $500.  Auditing is $50 a day.

Agility Handling Seminar

I am hoping for beautiful weather so that we can train in the fully fenced outdoor ring (grass), however, if the weather is poor, we will move to the indoor horse area (which is on a mixture of clay and dirt).  Seminar runs from 1:00 - 7:00 PM.  Dinner will be provided.

Limited to 6 participants.
